An artful space
10.20.11

What is up with this month’s Architectural Digest?….It’s really good! My fav spread is the Steven Volpe Bay area home. It’s filled with exquisite artful pieces and intriguing color palates.

This is so incredibly beautiful with the velvety chocolate browns, the unexpected pops of red lacquer and the minimal graphic rug. The 1940s French chairs are by Marc du Plantier, a black marble mantel by Axel Vervoordt. The fab twin floor lamps are Gino Sarfatti. Pool table by Blatt Billiards.

This is so incredible. The rustic distressed wood floors, the dark dramatic drapes anchored on the Zaha Hadid Dune table. Chandelier by Jeff Zimmerman, an impossibly great artist.

BDDW stools! Bleached walnut wood, lacquer cabinets, La Cornue range.

Vintage pendant lamps from Wyeth. Love this double window treatment with the warm woven shades.

Gorgeous color palate, soft and calm with a hint of femininity.

Fire screen by Christophe Côme.  Love the slight textural interest on the sofa pillows. Cocktail table by Juan Garrido.

I am dying for these sconces…more sculpture than light. By Fontana Arte. MEM dornbracht faucets.

The chandelier is by Emmanuel Babled from Nilufar.

Donna Karen Manhattan Apartment
8.29.11

I am loving the lines and unity of this apartment.

Black + white

This is perfection. All the elements align, nothing to add, nothing to take away. Sexy black pillows and rug.

Floating platform steps! My fav!

The black wall and shelving really make the books jump off the wall…loving this pop(!) of green in the table, it is just enough of wow.

Sexy sexy. The forms create such a dynamic space even with just black and white.

Vertical niche of books+horizontal floating stone plane…I cannot get enough!

Meticulous placement of the art frames. I think I need a ladder in the bathroom like this.

There is something about this interior that makes me smile and feel warm. The color palatte is just perfection – dark browns, rich woods with variations of burnt sienna/red. It is very Fall which happens to be my fav season.

Subtle Calm
6.14.11

Steven Volpe Design dining room

Elegant color palate, stainless steel with stormy blue and a hint of gray. Very tranquil. I also love how this dining table is styled with the march of black calla lilies.

Subtle colors…interesting rug.
